How to add a custom keyboard on iPhone

Here is how to install and enable KeyPaste so you can reach saved snippets in apps and fields that allow third-party keyboards.

Add the keyboard

1. Open Settings → General → Keyboard.
2. Tap Keyboards, then Add New Keyboard….
3. Under Third-Party Keyboards, choose KeyPaste.

You can now switch to KeyPaste from the globe (🌐) key in fields that allow custom keyboards and tap a saved plain-text snippet to insert it. Secure fields and some apps may force the system keyboard instead.

Switch to KeyPaste while typing

In a compatible app, tap and hold the globe key on your keyboard and select KeyPaste. Use the tag bar at the top to filter your snippets, then tap a plain-text item to insert it. Images and rich text use a copy-then-paste workflow, and file snippets are not included in the keyboard snapshot.

Do I need “Allow Full Access”?

No—you can browse your library and insert plain text without it. Full Access is required for keyboard-side saving, clipboard reading, active clipboard text capture, and the copy workflows used by rich text and images. See what “Allow Full Access” actually does for the details.

Nothing showing up in the keyboard?

If a snippet you just saved isn’t visible yet, switch keyboards once (globe key → another keyboard → back to KeyPaste) to refresh the shared snapshot. New items saved elsewhere appear after the main app comes back to the foreground.
