# Text expander vs clipboard manager: which do you need?

## Text expander

A text expander inserts **predefined** content on demand: canned responses, addresses, signatures, boilerplate. You curate a library up front and reach for it deliberately. It's about *reusing things you already wrote*.

## Clipboard manager

A clipboard manager keeps a **history of what you copy** so you can get back items you'd otherwise lose. It's reactive — capturing as you work — and about *not losing things you just grabbed*.

## Which do you need?
